you will not heal by going back to what broke you

I haven’t been on here properly for around three years and so much has happened since then!!!! I completed my degree, met some of the best friends I’ve ever had, recovered from anorexia, published a poetry collection, had a few jobs, realised I’m a lesbian. I’ve done so much and it’s ridiculously weird to have my confusing teenage years memorialised on the internet forever. I feel sad for the Lucy who had no idea of how bad things were going to get but I’m so proud that I’m still here; I survived and I feel like I can do anything now. I made it.

crying about cave paintings at 7:51 pm is a good exercise that i recommend

there’s something so horribly, painfully human about cave paintings, particularly negative handprints like these

here are people, thousands of years ago, their hands stretched out in greeting. here are people who painted the world around them and saw fit to put themselves in there too. here are people who only said, “i was here. i was a person. i existed. don’t forget me.” here is a person reaching thousands of years into the future, saying “im alive. im alive”. and there’s nothing more human than that.
